The woodworking program at LOLMS strives to build skill, confidence, and problem-solving skills. In true Montessori spirit, woodworking exemplifies the concrete, practical application of abstract concepts. Children learn to safely and efficiently use a variety of vintage hand tools; hammers, hand drills, saws, spokeshaves, and planes are all parts of our toolbox. Students  have the opportunity to build an array of projects, including keepsake boxes, folk toys, large group projects, and original student designs! Our Upper Elementary students excitedly discover levels of engagement and concentration involved in woodworking practices, and connect these ideas to cross-curricular projects and activities. Love of Learning defines service as a community-driven experience that applies structured, critically reflective practices in the effort to better understand our world. Our priority is to bring about positive change to benefit local  and global communities and environments. A vital component of LOLMS curriculum, Middle School students are presented the option to participate in twice-yearly service and cultural immersion trips.

Love of Learning uses the Reggio Emilia approach to art instruction, using emergent, project-based learning to introduce concepts. Rather than disseminating pre-planned lessons, teachers listen and observe during each class, determining the subjects, materials, and ideas that would most appeal to their students. From this information, teachers build curriculum to suit their students' unique creative interests. Projects vary based on class offerings, and can include:
